November 11, 2023 Update

Title: November 11, 2023 Update Happy Saturday, Portage Residents!

I went back through the directory and added email addresses that were missing from my contact group. If you know someone who has not been receiving emails, please check with them to see if they received this message. If they did not, have them contact me.

Transition to Winter: The colors of October have faded away and November is living up to its reputation of being overcast and dreary. A week ago, parts of the lake had a thin sheet of ice, but the water is open once again. Next week's forecast is for unseasonably warm weather (in the upper 50s!). Last year's Ice-In/Freeze-Up date was Nov. 17 and I expect it will be later this year.

Good Times at the Good Life: We had about 20 people attend our October social outing. While there, we discussed taking a break during the busy holiday season and resuming our monthly gatherings in January. The next venue will likely be Clancy's. Watch for more information in future updates. Executive Committee Update: I am excited to share that Kari Smith has offered to serve in the role of Association Secretary. Many thanks to Kari!

AIS Management: The executive committee will be discussing the plan for 2024 AIS management after reviewing an update received this week from our contact at PLM. More to come as those plans progress. Individual contracts with PLM are sent directly to property owners. If you have not had a PLM contract recently and are interested in their services, you can call them at 866-687-5253 or visit the website: https://plmcorp.net/

Membership Information: All future membership/dues information will be communicated digitally (no paper statements will be sent). A focused "2024 Membership" email will go out in February. If you have not yet paid 2023 dues ($20), you can make checks to Portage Lake Improvement Association and send them to me at my home address.

Stay Connected: Be sure to join the Facebook group for more regular updates.

Have a great weekend!
